Combining the old with the ideal, the canal bridge will feature pedestrian-friendly seating and overlook areas with decorative, historic lampposts at each end. These visual themes will prominently remind southbound passers-by that they are entering a historic community. |
Alice Carter Park Click to see plan. Just south of the canal bridge, a segmented median with brick crosswalks will distinctively mark the northern edge of Alice Carter Park. The park will be transformed into an easily accessible tree-lined recreation area. |

Business node at Illinois and 39th St. Click to see plan. To encourage urban lifestyles, ordinary intersections will be converted into park-like settings for pedestrians, bikers and drivers. Nostalgic lampposts, street signs, brick crosswalks and plantings will celebrate the area’s history. |
