Envision 38th St. / Maple Rd.

  

Envision 38th St./Maple Road has been sponsored by a collaboration that includes Maple Road Development Association, City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development, and Midtown Indianapolis, Inc. (formally HARMONI). Nearly 100 participants have helped articulate the vision for the future development on and near 38th Street between the IMA and the Fairgrounds.

1.  Draw a line around the commercial area on the aerial photograph.  Explain your decisions.

2.  Think about yourself as a pedestrian in this area.  What kind of experience would you like to have there?  How would you ensure that this area is pedestrian friendly?

3.  How could this area be equipped to support business development?  What would incent a business/developer to want to invest there?

4.  Decisions about new construction:

              Design restrictions?  Architectural style?

              How many stories high?

              What is on the street level?

              Lighting, parking, etc?

              Sidewalk width, streetscape details?  Describe.

              Unique aspects of this area?

              Transit readiness?

5.  Make a drawing of one block or corner (or more, if you have time) in this area.  It can be as detailed as you like.  You can decide wheat buildings are there, what businesses, restaurants, services are there.  Be as specific as you can possibly be.
